Esiste una leggenda metropolitana sul Tunnel di Urashima: nessuna sa dove sia, ma se qualcuno lo trova può chiedergli qualsiasi cosa. Tuttavia, il tempo trascorre in modo diverso all’interno del tunnel e, una volta usciti, si scopre di essere invecchiati.
Kaoru è un adolescente dalla vita difficile; le sue giornate sono scandite dal tempo trascorso insieme al suo unico amico e dalle commissioni che svolge per l’“ape regina” della sua classe. Egli vive insieme al padre, che si è dato all’alcol in seguito alla morte della figlia minore, mentre la madre li ha abbandonati poco dopo quel tragico incidente. Ma Kaoru non si lamenta della sua vita né è arrabbiato, e quando si imbatte nel Tunnel di Urashima sa esattamente quale desiderio chiedere: che sua sorella torni in vita.
