I finally found how to rip subs from a hard coded video. The subs are basically the same as my other upload, but the video is better quality. I did change the subs a tiny bit, but don't have enough knowledge of the language to make it better. The timing has some issues, but it's not that bad. So sorry, but i don't have time to really go through the timing. Maybe someone can do a better job than me with this. Mega link in comments for two 480p versions. I'm sorry, but i don't remember which video is the original since it was a few years ago that i downloaded them. Please use the video... Maria-sama ga miteru-Live-action film-RAW in the folder on Mega for best video & audio results.

What is the source of this Rip? BlueRay, WEB-DL? (Hopefully not DVD; as it would be an upscale then) /edit Downloaded it. Whatever the source was: the encoding quality is sadly very weak. Quick fixed bitrate ABR, so during any action things get super mushy (e.g. tress just get blobs). In general the picture is very blurry (even w/o moving action).

@fuhbaer2... So sorry, but I really don't remember how i got these vids. It was a few years ago. Here is a mega link for the other two 480p versions that i have. https://mega.nz/folder/HQZRCYIB#nUpZxSRPlWOcL08ME6d8vw
@fenson: Looking at all the 4 different versions (I had an entirely different "10bit" encode myself which struggled with player compatibility) I'm pretty convinced that that 720p is just an upscale from the DVD (or possibly even worse from an already previously encoded version… very suspicious the metadata has the exact same timestamps and audio track as the 'Maria-sama ga miteru-Live-action film (480).mp4' file). Basically you're just wasting a lot of disk space for extra blurry pixels added that your playback software could do on the fly. :) If you compare picture 1:1 with any of the smaller res. files you'll see no additional details (it's just replacing pixelation by blur). Personally I think the smallest file does the job best: "Maria-sama ga miteru-Live-action film-RAW.mp4", unlike the other files it is a good "cfr" encode (@ cfr=15.0) which means it will give bits where they are needed and doesn't waste bits where they are not needed. Resulting in noticeably better picture quality at a smaller file size. Also better analysis was used. Last but not least it seems to come with unaltered and better sounding audio while the other variants all have recompressed to AAC. The encoder probably knew better what they were doing. The movie supposedly was releases on BluRay. So there's still hope for an actual higher resolution version some day. :)

@fuhbaer2 Thank you for the explanation. I knew that a bd was released, but there is not an upload of it as far as i know. I remember searching for one a few years back.
Thanks for this and Fan Disc!

@SomaHeir No problem. There are other Live Action fan disc vids, but since i lost my subber, i won't be able to get those done.I was planning on doing the Live Action specials for the K-On! concerts also, but i need to find someone who can sub for me.
Thanks! 👍 Great job. I have been looking for soft subs since 2015. Happy now! ❤️ I too consider the 1,15 Gb RAW being the best video. (The one of those two you have on your Mega.) Did you ocr the subs of LuminaSubs (from a hardsubbed video with pretty awful video of 1,18 Gb)? Or was there another source? Also, I do have English subs for the "K-On Live Event - Let's Go" of 2009 (153 min, end of year event at Yokohama Arena 2009, i. e. prior to the second season), and also for "K-On Live Event-Come With Me" of 2011 (210 m, held in Saitama Super Arena on February 20, 2011). I believe they came with the DVD (or was it BD already?) at that time, but I don't know where I got them from, or how. I have had them since ages. The Saitama "Come with me" is amazing, not a dry eye for three hours. 😄 If those are the ones you're looking for.

@JackAssborn: Thank you. I really don't remember who it was, but about 6-7 years ago someone subbed the movie for me, then uploaded it to a site(forgot which one), It was hardsubbed. I asked him for the SRT file, but i never heard back from him. I looked into how to grab hard-coded subs, & i found a blog which explained it using some program. I had to do line by line in fixing it. just didn't have time to do the timing. Sorry for the lack of info. As for the K-On live events, I already have the subbed versions of the main events. I was looking for subs for the specials to each one that is on the DVD/BD's. I have the BD's & there are no subs.
@fenson Yeah, those I have neither. (And I too have been looking for them, to no avail.) But I watched them anyway, and they all said what I imagined they'd say. 😄 (Considering the (your?) timing of Marimite, it looks perfectly alright to me. Well, at least for the 5-6 scenes I randomly checked. I haven't watched the entire movie though, as of now.)

I bought the Blu-ray version of the movie, & to my surprise & disappointment, the Maria-sama ga miteru-Live-action film-RAW.mp4 version that i have on Mega looks better than the Blu-ray.
Yeah, my experience as well. Many a contemporary "all new" blu-ray looks worse than old dvd-versions. The same with many of the new Amazon's and Netflix' versions. Ruined all over, with oversaturated colors, degraining, all to much sharpening. With image depth and dynamic totally ruined. It's sad, really.

Ordered the dvd. Got it cheap. It's on the way. Just curious if the dvd has better video quality than the bd. Wonder if they filmed it in 480, then upscaled it to bd.

Well, It looks like they upscaled the dvd onto the blu-ray. They both look the same. Pretty sure tht dvd & bd that i have are second pressings. They don't have the pictures on the discs that the original one had (or at least that what was shown on websites).
