Oh man, THANK YOU!!!!

thank you so much for doing a new torrent of this, I have been looking for a working torrent of this for at least several months now with korean paywall sites being the only path and the rare occasional leecher on the old torrent. This torrent I believe either came from either the DVD-BOX release of the show or the Memorial Box release, but finally having the proper release of this set available is a win on your end. Thank you immensely for this.

Glad to hear you like it. That said, with my wallet a lot lighter I managed to grab DVD-BOX sets for this series. Memorial Boxes are way too ****ing expensive but at least DVD-BOXes were doable. Among with Yamato Takeru, Ga-Darn really takes a lot of space in my childhool anime memories. About in a month when I finally running my scanner I may work on isos with scanned pics for DVD-BOX. Though, there are also robot figures and unfortunately they really cannot be scanned ^^;

congrats on being able to pickup the dvd-box on that note, a lot of the dvd-boxes for brave in general exploded in price within the past year or so due to the 30th anniversary, and the only memorial box rip we have is Goldran's that CalChi ripped some years back. Da-Garn and Fighbird's Memorial Boxes aren't even ripped but I presume they might have better video quality as the jump between Goldran's DVD-BOX and Memorial Box was quite significant to the point of being 720p. If you're able to grab more DVD-Boxes of the series (particualry Fighbird's as the current rips aren't so hot) then I would def look into trying to spruce up the existing footage. I know CalChi was able to rip his J-Decker box-set to a higher encode than most rips were around for the past decade or so, so perhaps its possible.

I believe the quality jump is more about using modern encoding rather than soruces though... Both DVD-BOX and Memorial Box are still same 480p quality since disks are DVDs. Not sure how 720p coming from. Isn't it more like upscaling from the encoder? I will probably put DVD-BOX as iso files or remux because I am nearly ignorant of encoding, thus I have hard time making better rips for Yamato Takeru (which I also barely manged to get DVD-BOX with insane price before that insane price got even more insane. Right now the price is getting out of control with 10000+ dollars USD) and Da-Garn. For some reason I can't make better rips than these old WMV9 format videos so I eventually gave up encoding them for making torrent purposes.

it might be due to the encoding, I don't know what encoding software CalChi used before he went offline but I do remember that he did a AC3 x264 encoding of both Goldran and J-Decker. I would also recommend putting the ISO files on Internet Archive as well just as a backup storage spot for them since there's no uploads of there anywhere. I know Subdivers had this down for his recent upload of the Exkaiser DVD-BOX "h264, yuv444p10le, 640x480, 23.98 fps.", so maybe it might end up being a good place to start with in terms of experimenting with encoding

I see. I checked DVD-BOX and Memorial Box and they are basically same. Same number of DVDs. Though I understand certain release can be a bit more compressed thus less quality. For instance Yamato Takeru anime was also released in Korea a long time ago and I have the Korean DVD-BOX. Thing is compared to later JPN release it is compressed by factor of 5 (the whole size of each disk is only 1.5gb compared to JPN release's 7.5gb avg) thus regrettably lesser quality. For Da-Garn's case however, I don't see any sign of compression since the DVDs are all fully saturated and total number of DVDs are same. Hell, judging from from one of Ebay's ended listings even the inner DVD cases for both Memorial Boxes and DVD-BOX are exactly same. It is safe to assume they made in exactly same standard since they did not bother change tooling. The price is actually higher for DVD-BOX as well. The memorial box was 31600 yen (which gives you all four disks) and each DVD-BOX is 26000 yen, so total of 52000 yen. Now I checked the price again and actually DVD-BOX is more expensive than Memorial Box now, holy shit. Probably due to the fact that DVD-BOX also contains a robot figure... I guess I was incredibly lucky that DVD-BOX was somehow more cheaper when I was looking around. Yeah, unfortunately "h264, yuv444p10le, 640x480, 23.98 fps" does not tell much about techniques used. I've been digging around encoding techniques but it is truly a rabbit hole. Thanks for the advice though.

a relief to know at least that Da-Garn's set was purchased by someone willing to share it, let alone one able to be able to finally find if there's differences between the DVD-Box and the Memorial Box releases for the series as there's not too much info out there for Brave releases out there outside of the basic info. Now if only someone could be able to pick up Fighbird's DVD-Box and re-encode it

Yes, it will be a separated torrent, since the size may be too big for people who only look for quick play. Not to mention I actually do not know how to update the torrent in the first place. ^^;

So the scanning boxes and papers began and I found out the paperback on Box 2 is missing. >.> I should had checked much earlier. I found another one that has the paperback but since everything is coming from Japan (and it has to be shipped to the proxy shipping company first to be delivered here) it is going to be delayed a bit. But hopefully everything will arrive by next week at least.

As long as its possible, I was wondering as well if you had come across any of the dvd-box's for Fighbird but I'd assume by now that those are still in high demand as of late along with the other brave boxes

I am going to be honest with you. Da-Garn was my major childhood anime; I spent my hard-earned petty cash to rent VHS when I was a kid. However I did not watch Firebird (or Fightbird?) and I did not know Da-Garn was a part of major robot series until very recently. I gotta work on Da-Garn and other my childhood animes.... perhaps another time but no guarantee because I am not sure whether I am going to spend yet another large sums of money to grab those series.
