A while back, AnimeMaakuo graced us with around 30 episodes of the original broadcast of Dragon Ball Z. He unfortunately disappeared since then so we may not get any more, but this gave me the idea to split his massive 170GB recording files into individual episodes and add subtitles to them, but there is a bit more to it that makes this unique. What I did was re-encode the original file with ffmpeg and then split the first episode in the recording, later to edit the subs, which I used iKaos' recent Level Set release as a base. These original recordings come from Ishikawa TV in the late 80s and early 90s (as seen on a few bumpers before the show) and include broadcast audio (duh), sponsor cards, commercials, and all that good stuff. I took the liberty to re-time FUNi subs to match this release, and to translate and sub each commercial found on this episode. I plan to release a whole batch of them when I'm done, but for now, here is a sneak peak, the first episode. As I would like to improve the subs by primarily stylising them to match what's shown in the CMs, this will possibly not be the final version, but I will include an update when I'm done and release the batch. FYI, you could compress that PCM track with FLAC, lose objectively no quality as it is a lossless encoding, and save some filesize.
