V2 CHANGES (thanks are for the people that alerted us to the issues): 1. Fixed issue with video encode on all episodes - video should now look like the examples (thanks Roswell57). 2. Fixed issue with cropping on the Specials - decided to leave the specials unencoded so they are presented here as remuxes (thanks Mythrill). 3. Fixed audio issue on all English episodes with insert songs - some English episodes with re-added inserts were older versions that weren’t properly mixed and lacked NEPs (thanks Krycek7o2). 4. Fixed a few subtitle issues - a few very minor translations were adjusted in various episodes (thanks Scoped and AnimeAjay). 5. Updated HG dub on episode 1 - in addition to fixing the original audio error (thanks Venny), I was given an updated audio source by Tom_Servo. 6. Fixed sub fonts on JPN Previews - some of the fonts for the JPN Previews were incorrectly labeled causing them to incorrectly display (thanks corre). 7. Adjusted some credits for extras - some of the extras were credited to the wrong people (thanks HKB).

EXTRAS DESCRIPTIONS: 1. **English OPs, EDs, Promos:** various promotional materials related to the English dubs. Most of these things came from YouTube, TV Rips, or official DVDs. 2. **Fanmade EDs:** SoM member dubudavid made these fantastic fanmade EDs for various Dragon Ball arcs, so I decided to include them here for fun. 3. **JPN Previews:** previews and promotional materials related to the Japanese release, including NEPs that were only broadcast on TV and not included on the Dragon Box, various commercials and previews both in their original state when available, or as recreated by fans when necessary. While most people are credited in the filename some additional translations were done by dubudavid. 4. **NCOPs-NCEDs:** no-credit OPs and EDs, most of which are fan-made. These are the highest quality I could find. Some of them have an additional instrumental music track added and synced by JohnnyOak. 5. **SRT Subtitles:** Team Mirolo released their own re-timed subtitles to go with their BA. As mentioned above no changes have been made to these subs whatsoever. 6. **Unmodified English Tracks:** if for some reason you want the original English dub tracks without insert songs added or with the original constant narration intact, then here they are. 7. **Dragon Book:** This is a scan of the Dragon Book included with the Dragon Box, provided by tonone. It’s obviously in Japanese and hasn’t been translated.
third for thanks, i'll try to seed this on my seedbox for as long as possible.
Thank you very much for this great work !!!
> Where’s muh Faulconer? Dragon Ball never had replacement music, that only happened with Z and GT.

@Impakt 1. It's a joke 2. ACKSHUALLY BLT dub has replacement music and BW used it occasionally as well
So if I had the first release already all downloaded and the fixes from the Fixes and V2 torrent, is there anything I would need from this one? I noticed you said you fixed the video encode on all the episodes

iKaos (uploader)

User
@Justasaiyan88 no, you would need to download everything again since the video fixes were applied to all episodes. Note the hashes are different. Sorry for the confusion.
updated hg, awsome, the audio from the first episode gave me a headache
Are the unmodified English tracks synced already?
@iKaos Ok, thank you for clarifying. I knew I signed up for unlimited Xfinity data for something lol
@Damned When I checked the V1 I believe they are already synced, just need to be muxed.
Mmmmmmmmmmmm fuuuuuucccck. Looks so gooooooood. Thanks again everybody <3

iKaos (uploader)

User
@Damned yes they are synced via dragon-radar with NEPs added, just like the rest. Was going to mux them but figured the number of people who wanted them was low.

Thank you for this fixed (and hopefully final) version! :D Will the DBZ batch have the same encoding quality as DB? I see these encodes here have CRF 15, while season 9 of Z had CRF 18. (I’m guessing it’s because that wasn’t the definitive version, am I right?) Regarding the movies, is your release going to be in fullscreen, widescreen, or both? If you’re planning a widescreen version, I suppose the source will be Amazon Japan streams; will it be a remux or a reencode with fixes? Can’t wait to finally see the completion of this project! :D
Even bigger than last time? Please reencode!
@notaretard dude this is just a big fix to the previous one, why'd expect something else?
@SaiyanSidd, obviously a 200mb reencode!
Welp. Time to do this again. LOL. Thanks guys!
@Johnster > Will the DBZ batch have the same encoding quality as DB? I see these encodes here have CRF 15, while season 9 of Z had CRF 18. (I’m guessing it’s because that wasn’t the definitive version, am I right?) Yes the S9 encode was done by me also and was done at a lesser quality intentionally to not startle the people who have been downloading iKaos torrents for a while now with larger file sizes. The Z batch will be encoded totally differently than Z S9.
@JySzE Thanks for the info. Looking forward to that Z batch! :D

@Johnster I'm only assisting with syncing for movies, it's another project altogether. But I believe the plan is to use Toei Remasters for the video source, with a possible cc. @notaretard lol the v2 is actually 1GB smaller than v1
@iKaos Gotcha. Super excited to see all these high-quality projects coming to fruition.
@iKaos, @JySzE and everyone involved in this project, huge thanks for your commitment to quality! Cant wait to get my eyes all over this one. Been waiting a long time for a good release like this to come around, and with DBZ on the horizon it's literally a dream come true.
I don't know if this has been asked; but is the original DVD audio also synced to video or just a straight port?
@notaretard Nah bro it's 1 gb smaller than last time. You got what you wanted. No bloat!
@notaretard Just for you m8 https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1011122

@Krycek7o2 The Japanese DBOX audio is as-is from the DVDs except for the 4 episodes mentioned in the description.
@notaretard a 2TB HDD is under $60 on Amazon dawg You can miss out on the shitty MHA games to get one
iKaos; thanks for the info. I've been curious about that for a while!
### Attention retards!!! #### How to get a 200 MB encode version of this release (with all the juicy filtering) in very few steps, using your SATA II 60GB HDD. 1. Download one episode 2. ffmpeg.exe -y -i bloated_episode_eww.mkv -c:v libx264 -b:v 100k -pass 1 -an -f null NUL && ffmpeg.exe -i bloated_episode_eww.mkv -c:v libx264 -b:v 100k -pass 2 -c:a aac -b:a 32k nyaa_friendly.mp4 3. Delete the episode you just downloaded 4. Repeat steps 1 - 3 until you have all the episodes
@ -___- No seeders but thanks anyway.
@notaretard Hmmm, looks like it flew right over your head.
@Romao Instructions unclear, dick stuck in computer case, 60GB HDD on fire.

@Venny Dat grain bloat gone. Very nice. ![alt text](https://media1.tenor.com/images/090e4e1a887679072148ac379d6dd8fa/tenor.gif)
Ya'll trolling this fool hard. Let him go back to the pixelated mess. I hate to sound superior here, but this release is a collection of hard work collected through the years and it's not worthy of those not in the know. Also, download complete and seeding for the foreseeable future.
About how big will each EP of DBZ be? Assuming about the same if not a little bigger than these. Will you guys be doing GT and/or Super as well? Thanks for the quick v2! Ya'll are MVPs tbh
It'll be big and have some nice surprises, that's for sure... wink, wink....
@Romao I think the retards are too retarded to even follow your instructions lol... edit: WMV Maker 3.5 - easy to use gui, no scary commandline. Even works on windows 95 so now there's no excuse. 320x240 ftw!
@iKaos Questions from the archived thread since you probably overlook them Will be the Movies in 4.3 or 16:9? i would prefer 4:3 because it was the most filled picture without cuts. Also about the Specials like Atsumare Gokus World and Plan to Eradicade the Saiyans (the old one). Any encoding improvements on them for the Z Release? (Because Atsumare is just VHS Quality and Plan to EtS has not the best Dragonbox Release quality, but one dude encoded a 1080p version back in the day. But he modified the video and removed some parts, thats why i prefer still the old sub versions)

iKaos (uploader)

User
@Metaridley I thought I answered the movies question. Anyway the movies are more of a team effort, and I'm only doing some audio syncing, but I believe the plan is to use the Toei Remasters since those are the highest quality available, possibly with cc done as well. Atsumare I don't care about at all, and the original PtEtS was released by Pendekar here: https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1019978
@notaretard if you want a less bloated version i just uploaded a release the other day that should be perfect for you https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1281700
I wouldn't blame that retard , he's a fan of My Hero Academia after all . I may get back to throw my cents if I found the will , space and time to get this release . Thank you , iKaos .
Thank you again. @Romao nice tutorial, but does that remove grain too? Lmao
Absolutely phenomenal work. Thank you to everyone involved.
For those curious, here is a [**comparison of the new video encodes for this v2 torrent vs. the previous v1.**](https://slow.pics/c/ldIq0cNh) Included are screenshots from the infamous episode 41 and also 146. Additionally, I've added corresponding frames from the DBox Source for reference as well as the prehistoric RealMedia encodes from ~2004 that Mdsn recently excavated [**here**](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1281700) for fun. Takeaways: It is readily apparent the v2s correct an issue that prevented retention of fine details in the earlier v1 vs. source notably in the speedlines and crosshatching evident in the latter sets of EP146. Excellent work was done repairing the interlacing artifacts for EP41 shown in comparison #02, but there is still residual combing during the scene transition in set #03 *(though vastly improved from the source)*. One can quickly see why the PAR was selected as there are edges of the DBox video in EP41 on the left and right sides at various points which show where the cel photography was *(meant to be)* cutoff. That said, I confess I'm still not a fan of cropping away image area that is not part of any pillar or letter boxes even if it is in service of restoring an accurate aspect ratio as you still lose some horizontal picture from the source and which was not really showing major defects in EP146. In conclusion, is this release 100% perfect? Eh, maybe not.. Is it the definitive way to experience DB for the foreseeable future unless and until Toei decides they no longer hate money enough to release a BD remaster? **Absolutely!** The halo-removal and chroma fixes alone are worth it coupled with the attention to BA and newly-polished subs. A huge thanks to the team and everyone involved in making this release possible.
Thanks once again for making this happen! Lot of trolls in the comments, can never appreciate the time and effort people put to give back to the anime community.
@Kuraze Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. I will address some of the things you touched on: > but there is still residual combing during the scene transition in set #03 (though vastly improved from the source). The issues with EP 26 and 41 weren't only the fact that it had minor luma combing residual that you are showing, but rather the intense chroma shifting/bleed and combing thru out the episode which was the major issue. What was fixed: ![screenshot](https://i.imgur.com/GAWyKFq.png "Screenshot") ![screenshot2](https://i.imgur.com/PGQPVBv.png "Screenshot2") If I wanted to remove the luma combing you are showing I'd have to manually identify every frame where this occurred and replace them (combing filters will not work on this), not something anyone would be willing to do, because when it occurs it only lasts on 1 frame and is not noticeable in motion. But if you want to go thru EP 26 and 41 (both have this luma issue) of my encode and report every single frame where this occurs I will easily and willingly make a v3 of it but no way will I spend more time on these 2 EPs identifying these frames myself when only frame by frame pixel peeper will see it. EP 26 and 41 alone took more hours than I'm willing to admit to fix. > One can quickly see why the PAR was selected as there are edges of the DBox video in EP41 on the left and right sides at various points which show where the cel photography was (meant to be) cutoff. > as you still lose some horizontal picture from the source and which was not really showing major defects in EP146. This is not why I choose to correct PAR, I choose to correct PAR because those sides with or without issues were never meant to be seen with overscan. This was not optional, I am all for retaining as much image as possible, But to keep the intended viewing experience is key and this is what we achieved. > A huge thanks to the team and everyone involved in making this release possible. We appreciate your support.
WOW! thanks a lot for all your hard work definitely gonna download this i’m sorry to make a request on this torrent just to want asking can you reseed [?? ?????? ???? ? ??????? ??????](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1246522) please i really need it. If i managed to completely download i will seeding…forgive me if this comment spam.
What is with Dragon Ball always having the most retarded and dumb comments on nyaa, it always attracts beings like jillvalentine that comes up with nothing but random nonsense. This amount of autism can’t be found anywhere else.
What happened to the discord? It disappeared for me and the links no longer work.
@JySzE >If I wanted to remove the luma combing you are showing I’d have to manually identify every frame where this occurred and replace them (combing filters will not work on this), not something anyone would be willing to do, because when it occurs it only lasts on 1 frame and is not noticeable in motion. EP 26 and 41 alone took more hours than I’m willing to admit to fix. I anticipated such a time-consuming fix would be required. I've frame-served the encodes and went through each scene-by-scene. Here are all of the combed frame numbers I identified for EP26 (18 frames): `20974 21390 21402 21414 21418 21430 25522 29994 29998 30002 30006 30010 30014 30018 30022 30026 30030 30034` and here are those found for EP41 (19 frames): `22410 22414 22418 22426 22614 23066 23094 23098 24834 26882 26978 27482 28138 28142 28162 28166 28734 28990 30798` If there were others I missed, they were too subtle for me to notice. Each frame was marked with a bookmark as they were found and I've exported the entire [**labeled frame sequences of each to corroborate against here**](https://files.catbox.moe/4lv7wx.zip). When checking these flagged frames it's easier to see the issues when toggle-seeking to either the immediate prior or next "correct" frame. They typically showed up in high motion segments with repeated abrupt scene changes and were most evident in extremely dark areas like Goku's hair or in bright spots like whites of eyes or the sun. Thanks again for the hard work.
@ UltimateFighter And that's why disabling comments should be an option. I honestly just don't care about the DB community anymore, too much stupid shit and idgaf. I'll just be as always, be on my own than with a group. There are the good guys, but they're outweighed by the retarded ones.
Might you ever add dubtitles to the release? could be really awesome for those that like the dub

iKaos (uploader)

User
@UltimateFighter why comment something equally unproductive? @YuiKitamura who were you? You probably got kicked for inactivity, and we're closed now due to trolls. @GohanMatures I answered this question on a part of the FAQ that I had to delete due to the word limit: > The person helping me with Z's dubtitles, OnionEclipse, is still working hard on completing those for the Z batch. Due to time constraints for something so niche I was unable to devote time to syncing the dubtitles at this point. I do intend to release them in the future, however.
@Kuraze I went ahead and fixed every frame you mentioned here but just randomly going thru there is a ton of really bad ones you missed but like I said before they are not even noticeable in motion. But it would feel really pointless to post this fix with only the frames you posted knowing there is a metric shit ton left leaving someone just like you to mention it in the comments if I were to release it again with only fixed ones you posted, I'm gonna try and get someone I know to find them all for me because my next fix of 26 and 41 will be my last no matter what, if they are unable to identify every single one then I will just wait till someone goes thru it frame by frame. Since I know how insanely tedious that will be I actually hope no one is crazy enough to do it because manually repairing these frames is incredibly tedious as well.
@JySzE Understood, thanks for the time in checking. ^^
Excellent release! Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the v2. I'd like to know if the Dragon Ball Z torrent is also going to have basic subtitles like this one.
is there anything besides VSfilter that you can recommend for the same results? I admit I cant manage to make it work without the subtitles showing in double on top of each other or just not working at all... Please help the more technically challenged lol

iKaos (uploader)

User
@JorgeOm All subtitles done here will also be done for Z. @GohanMatures [MPV](https://github.com/stax76/mpv.net/blob/master/Manual.md#download) should work out of the box. MPC-HC (the updated fork [here](https://github.com/clsid2/mpc-hc/), not the official one that's been dead for years) needs at least VSfilter however XySubFilter is also generally ok, although sometimes the positioning and blurs will be different. MPC out of the box won't render the blurs properly. VLC is also hit and miss. We didn't test with any other type of player.
Thank you for this! I'm really loving all of the Dragon Ball releases we've been getting over the past year, amazing stuff.
Thanks a million, iKaos.
Thanks team SoM
Might be a dumb question but how do these play on a blu ray player from an HDD USB connection??

iKaos (uploader)

User
@Gnosis The videos should play fine, but the stylized subs probably won't work. Just a guess though, didn't test it.
@Gnosis I have the episodes on my external playing on my sony ubp-x800m2 and the subtitles do work. It plays them a little funky sometimes, but they at least work
Dear iKaos or anyone else who may be of assistance, Are you a bad enough dude to re-seed at least "Strongest Guy in the World" in either of these torrents (Preferably first)? https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1248472 (Movie 2) https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1257746
Please disregard my above message.
Thanks so much for this v2! I appreciate the time that went in to it. Quick noob question: where can I find/track the (upcoming) SoM releases referenced in the description?
So do you also have no plans to do PtEtS? I wasnt sure based on the message sure if you said you had no plans to do Atsumare if that also applied to PtEtS.
@iKaos, Hi, firstly let me say a big thank you to yourself, JySzE, Team Mirolo, and everyone else who has worked hard to make this release a reality. It wasn't too long ago a full DB release with BA would have seemed impossible, and to see it happen with full sync, the authoring flaws fixed and pretty much everything possible added on top is amazing. I agree that the file sizes should be dictated purely by what is needed to get maximum audio/visual quality. However my internet has bandwidth caps, and ideally I'd prefer to only get this once, so I thought I'd ask...is there any likelihood that either your planned second release or the color corrected release by SoM will use HEVC encoding? Given that would allow the size to be smaller while retaining the same level of quality in this release, then I would wait for that. I understand this might not be possible as HEVC will take longer to encode and might thus not be feasible, and if so I will happily go with this release, but I thought I'd ask the question just in case. Thanks again :)
1) The NEPs should be placed before the ending. It was always broadcast in this order and the DBox is wrong. 2) Episode 47 to 153 have the incorrect mix of Makafushigi Adventure. From episode 47, the song switched to a different mix with the Chinese gong lasting a little longer. Toei themselves forgot this fact and mistakenly used the first version of the song in all the 153 episodes. You can get both the two versions in the best quality from the Japanese Blu-ray release of DB movies. This nitpicky fact aside, the opening and ending songs in the DBox masters sound raspy for some reason, so you should use the Blu-ray audio instead anyway. These minor flaws aside, I think this is a good release.
@Triffid I would highly recommend you to just get this release so you can have the best without regrets. Don't wait for a smaller HEVC version that will "allow the size to be smaller while retaining the same level of quality in this release" because it simply wont be the same level of quality as in this release. DB is grainy and it's not a clean source. It needs all the bitrate it can get. The more, the better. Don't worry if "It's over 9000!!!?" lol. I'm just really glad JySzE didn't concern himself with filesize for this release. Would have been a real damn shame to do all this professional work and then screw it up with something as trivial as filesize. Although I cant exactly answer your question because I don't know what they will release, all I can say is just get this if you can. You'll be happy you did, even if they would release a smaller sized version it simply cant be the same quality. HEVC would still need high bitrate to look good because the dragonbox video is not that compressible without degrading the quality. A lot of todays anime might be more forgiving when it comes to compression, but not DB. Nope, nope. Many have tried, and many have failed. DB is unforgiving and shows no mercy. When it comes to dragonbox video... gimme MORE bitrate is all I can say.

@riker our main Discord is closed. We're considering opening up one just for status updates. @CSManiac33 Yes, there are no plans for PtEtS at this time. The source is pretty bad to begin with so there's not much that can be done with it. Pendekar's encode should be filne. @Triffld HEVC isn't really effective with grainy sources without killing the grain or giving negligible space gains. If/when I do another encode, it'd probably be around half to 3/4 of the size of this version. It's currently not a priority though since I'm working on Z and some other things. @nappa_believer This isn't meant to be a broadcast accurate release, but rather a representation of the best you can get from the Dragon Box, with dual-audio. Never heard of the alternate Makafushigi, and again I'm only using what Mirolo did (which was use the DVD track instead of the BD to keep the quality from being ridiculously different). Anyway thanks for the feedback.
@iKaos I was KITA. I didn't talk often but it was nice being a part of the community while it lasted.
iKaos, roswell57 : thank you for the explanation. I will not be waiting for the smaller release now. I didn't know HEVC had issues with grain. @iKaos, only other question is if I should wait for the color corrected version - is it literally going to be like this release but with the color changed, or will there be other changes where it would make sense to have both versions? Is the color in the dragonboxes considered "wrong"? Thanks.
@Triffid > is if I should wait for the color corrected version It wont be out for months, so if you can wait for a long long time then yes wait. > is it literally going to be like this release but with the color changed Yes > Is the color in the dragonboxes considered “wrong”? Yes
Hi @JySzE ! Can you respond to my comments in the comment section of your Naruto release, please ?
Thank you so much iKaos! So proud you and your team did the best edition of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z... did you team planning for GT and Dragon ball Super?
@JySzE, I will, thanks for answering. :)

iKaos (uploader)

User
@kakarot SoM will do something with GT. I am not personally doing any "work" for it (I've never even seen GT lol) but if the team decides to have me be the "face" of the release and take care of packaging it together, then I will do that. Either way someone will handle it. We have no plans for Super at this time since there are plenty of releases already and there is only so much you can do with that show.
Thanks iKaos, by the way.. I downloaded your Level Sets now... So, that means I can replace 1-39 episodes from your Dragon box?
@kakarot (I'm a member of SoM) At the current times yes that is iKaos's best version of DBZ episods 1-39 (i.m.o). But keep in mind he is also planning on re-doing the whole of DBZ again with more fixes & features in the near future.

iKaos (uploader)

User
@kakarot the Level Sets and the S1 Dragon Box releases that are out now were done at the same time, the only difference is the video. Sidd is right though in that I'm going to replace both of them in the future with updated audio.
@SaiyanSidd, Thank You! @iKaos, Thank You! I'm Excited! :D Now I'm planning to buy 2 TB External Hard Drives.
Noticed that episode 138 is async, when krillin fires the kamehameha at piccolo jr in the tenkaichi budokai you will notice it. then its async the rest of the episode too

iKaos (uploader)

@Metaridley Good catch, appears to be an issue with Team Mirolo's syncs for that episode. The dub track is synced fine. Will get a fix out soon.

Team Mirolo released a fix for 138 here: https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1258280
Im at Episode 9 now... I try and I fail.. I will try again later. Hoping iKaos release a FIXED of this Episode: Dragon Ball - 138 - The Mysterious Hero
What the heck happened to discord?? @ikaos @jyzse ?? I was gonna chat but its gone now I have an idea once I get a rtx 3090 https://youtu.be/ZNE9mq9j6AU This uses ai upscaling might be worth looking into.
I-is... it normal to have a boner right now at how good this is?
@iKaos Are you going to release an official fix for episode 138? Anyone can do their own mux, of course, but I think it’d be preferable if we had an official one including the respective CRC32.

iKaos (uploader)

User
@MrPoot yes, but hopefully it goes away after a few hours. @Johnster I will eventually, only reason I haven't yet is because stuff I upload to MEGA usually gets DMCAed really quick. I've also been working on Z so I haven't gone back to DB in a bit.
Thank you in advance iKaos! :D
@iKaos, please include Team Mirolo's audio to your plan on re-doing the whole of DBZ. Thank you!
@iKaos Thanks for the reply. No worries, take your time. Also looking forward to that Z batch :D
Z batch soon? =O
@ SSJLuffy They said it wouldn't be for a while.

Anyone know where I can get high file size good quality version of R2J DBOX for GT that is also dual audio?
^ Also Japanese broadcast audio?
@mattsterZ me too looking for DBGT dragon box but this is what I found ://nyaa.iss.one/view/1168709
@kakarot We will be releasing GT soon.
@JySzE Thanks for the episode 138 links. Also great to know you guys are taking care of GT soon. I’m pretty sure you’ve thought about this but I hope you don’t mind filling us in on it: have you considered joining forces with GTeam? They did wonders with the audio and the subs (video was also very good, especially the fixing of the opening of several of the episodes, but if you give the video the same treatment you did for DB/Z that’ll be even better), and I’m guessing you’ll be using those (please correct me if I’m wrong), but they still haven’t released the final version for episodes 23-64. It’d be great to see SoM and GTeam releasing one perfect definitive version.
Are there any dual audio 1080p releases of Kai (Preferably 4:3 with the Yamamoto score)? Also, is there a dual audio 1080p release of the buu arc of Kai (preferably 4:3)?
JySzE, will the GT upload use the broadcast audio from this torrent? https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1230042
@JySzE, I'm ready to download it. :D THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
From what I could gather, GTeam’s audios come from basically the same kinds of sources found in that torrent, and sometimes the version they used was slightly better than the highest quality one from among those. In addition, they combined different sources to produce the best result across the entire audible spectrum, and then performed a professional-level mastering. Also, they have the best quality opening and endings, no contest. Unfortunately, they still haven’t released the final version of episodes 23-64. The project has been stalled for a while, but hopefully they’ll come back to it soon in order to finish it.
The reason I ask about kai in 1080p is because I have a batch of kai that claims it is in 1080p, but it’s actually in 720p. The only episodes in the batch that are true 1080p are 35-38 in the frieza saga which I find strange. I could not find true 1080p anywhere else which leaves me questioning if there actually is a 1080p release. I’m thinking there must be because of those few episodes that are crystal clear 1080p compared to the rest of the episodes in the batch which are only 720p. Attached below are links to a couple of drop box folders. One is a 720p episode folder of screenshots and one is a 1080p episode folder of screenshots. Both from the same batch claiming to be a blu-ray rip. I would love to know the source of these 1080p episodes and what you guys think of them. I would also like to know if there are in fact good quality kai releases in 1080p that are available for download (preferably 16:9, dual audio). 1080p screenshots: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/os2bgufke95wgec/AADhykS9FP2blnYsLWHN-omBa?dl=0 720p screenshots: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/75o5p8yx579ivn8/AADQGMdanOs0HZldnu1QsNV3a?dl=0
@Johnster I don't know anyone on GTeam and haven't seen any updates from them, I have no interest in teaming up with them. The audio we will be using is the FujiTWO & BSFuji audio. I don't plan on releasing anymore content after Q1 or Q2 of 2021 so I wont be waiting for BSFuji to air the remaining missing episodes. The difference between the 2 isn't enough for me to care anyways. ___ @Damned Yes

dbz batch coming soon?
@JySzE Thanks so much! That GT release is gonna be great! Is it going to be sourced from the R2J Dbox with an English audio option? If so, will it contain the English version of Dan Dan and the option to play the English dialogue with the Japanese music? That would be so cool!
Disregard my Kai questions. I just found out that those higher quality episodes are due to the fact that they were filmed using 35mm instead of 16mm. They should've done it for the whole series. Some more stupid questions for you guys (I know very little about this stuff). How come I see certain YouTubers like CNXToonami claiming they have 35mm of z. Is this true or am I the butt of a cruel joke? Either way, it looks great and he managed to upscale it to 4k. For those who know about the editing process, what was involved in making the footage look that good? Can that be done with all of DB and DBZ without 35mm footage/did he actually use 35mm footage? Here's a link to his video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=US_f_2EYyp8
Will you guys be doing Kai aswell?
@JySzE Thanks for the response. I agree the difference between FujiTWO and BSFuji is negligible for most practical purposes, but by my calculations the current BSFuji rerun should end on January 31, so if you’re planning to release GT by around that time and can obtain the recordings maybe that’d be an idea to consider. In any case please consider GTeam’s audio and subtitles as well. They did a fantastic professional-level job there! @mattsterZ That’s what I said... (I only deleted my post because you deleted yours and so it looked like I was randomly talking at no one.)
@Johnster > But by my calculations the current BSFuji rerun should end on January 31, so if you’re planning to release GT by around that time and can obtain the recordings maybe that’d be an idea to consider. Audio is already synced so that wont be happening. As for GTeams audio I prefer a more neutral original sound rather than a fan attempt at EQing it, no complaints or disrespect to them and their great work. Its just not something I will be doing and I wish them luck on their project. Subtitles will most likely be done by the same person who did the DB and Z subs which is the user corre.
@JySzE I understand the decision. Still looking forward to it and to other Dragon Ball releases! :D

As I said a few times, the Z batch is being worked on. It'll come before the end of the year. @mattsterZ the dual-audio (quad really, if you consider both scores) Kai release I usually link to is this one: https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1110750 4:3 Kai TFC isn't a thing but I think there's some fan projects that are looking into it. CNXToonami is a troll account that just posts upscales to flex. The only 35mm DB things are the few random Freeza episodes and the movies. Kai looks blurry and "720" because it was poorly scanned. @johnster as JySzE already mentioned some version of GT with BA and dubs will be released.
Will the Z batch have the ocean dub audio as an option?
Well well, that's impressive! Just doscovered it few days before and ... I love it! Thanks to all people involved, sincerely. @iKaos careful about using toei's bluray for the movies: they are censored (no middlefingers ...). I suppose u are aware of that, but just in case... I got the amazon prime version of that remasters, and there's no censorship. But I don't know if that's the best video quality out there, or the R2J are still a better option. https://www.kanzenshuu.com/2019/01/25/toei-acknowledges-movie-blu-ray-censorship-apology-incorrect-jacket-text-description/

@anburob The Z batch has the same audio options that my season releases have, just updated. So yes, there's an Ocean/FUNi hybrid track for the first 67 episodes (hybrid because the Ocean episodes were cut and I need to use the FUNi dub to fill in the gaps). @xcrash All movie syncs are based on the WEB-DLs due to the censorship and DNR present in the Blu-Ray. The Japanese audio, however, will come from the BDs or LDs (or both).
@iKaos Thanks for the Kai link! Is there a 1080p release of the final chapters with dual audio? Also, will you be including any extras in the z batch like a dragon book?
Of course you were aware! It only was a "just in case" hahah I'll be waiting patiently, thanks. Ganbare!!

@mattsterZ only TFC torrent I can recommend is ColdFusion's (https://nyaa.iss.one/view/933676) since she used a filter to get rid of the green. It's only 720p however honestly Kai TFC is so meh looking that it really doesn't matter. I do plan on doing extras but I'm unsure of what exactly since there's a lot out there of Z. Unfortunately the guy who shared the DB Dragon Book scans hasn't shared the scans for any of the other books, however Impakt did just share the R1US versions.
@ikaos only ocean audio for the first 67 eps? I have ocean dub for every episode downloaded it's just a lot of it is in poor poor quality. Is it not possible for all episodes? Sorry if I come across as rude or ignorant, I'm new to this. Would just really enjoy watching DBZ all the way though in ocean dub. Relive the days where I watched it on tv and recorded it onto vhs tapes ":D
@iKaos @anyonewhoisknowledgableaboutthefilmprocess Thanks. Yeah, they did a really poor job with TFC. It's a shame. I know this is said ad nauseam, but for the life of me, I cannot understand why Toei will not properly redo Z from the ground up. I am not sure what the process is and I would like someone to explain how a true remaster is done. Are the negatives re-scanned in 1080p? Is it possible to re-film cels using 35mm film? I literally have no clue how it works and I probably sound really dumb right now. Having said that, whatever the process is, this is one of Toei's biggest brands with the most demand ever. If there is any series it should be done for, it's this one. Overall, I'm hopeful that in the distant future there will be a huge DBZ renaissance and it'll happen.

@anburob The Ocean dub I'm referring to is the Saban/Ocean dub during the first run of the series in America, which cut the first 67 episodes down to 53, before voices switched to the the now current FUNi voices. I don't consider the later Westwood/Ocean episodes as part of the same broadcast since they were done later and by a different company under different circumstances. Also keep in mind there is no dub featuring Ocean voices for edited 54-107. Anyway, while I've always thought of adding that dub to the later episodes, there are several issues: 1. It's edited, so it would have to be manually synced. Unlike with the earlier Saban/Ocean episodes, the edits are done by cutting out small parts of scenes quite frequently, and so this would be a fairly lengthy process to sync. 2. The quality is all over the place. While somewhat recently there were two giant torrents released filled with Westwood and Blue Water dub recordings, they were incredibly disorganized and contain many duplicates. Any serious syncing can not be done until the files are organized for quality, which I believe is still ongoing. 3. Time, In order to add this dub both of the above need to be completed, and considering the files have been out for months and are still not organized, it would be a considerable amount of time before I would be able to sync it, which would delay the batch well into next year. I have always said that if someone wants to work with me on syncing that dub that I'd be more than open to it, however nothing has come of it.

@mattsterz It would actually be easier for FUNi to release Z properly since we know they have raw film scans in pretty good quality, which have formed the basis of all releases since the Level Sets. The issue is they insist on modifying the image by adding DNR, filters, and cropping, and people still buy these releases because they say "DBZ" on them. FUNi has no incentive to do a proper remaster because most fans have no concept of quality. As for as Toei remastering Z, it's likely they don't even have the film anymore since they tend to lose everything, but even if they did you'd probably get something like Kai, which while not terrible suffers from a poor, unfocused scan and DNR. @kakarot I've said my position on GT many times, including just a few comments up, so I won't clarify further.
Reading iKaos messages 3 weeks ago.. ![Imgur](https://i.imgur.com/mnD4cZM.jpg)
@iKaos Thanks! Such a shame. One day they'll give us a good release. When the brand has died down profits wise and they can't squeeze anything else out of it they'll listen to the hardcore fans. Opinions on the 30th-anniversary release?
@mattsterZ Waiting for iKaos release is enough. I don't want to wait for 50th Anniversary.. ![Imgur](https://i.imgur.com/64DMkkR.jpg)
@SSJLuffy From what I have heard from JySzE (the person encoding Z) raw video files for the episodes are encoded at 7 gb each and compressed down to about 1.5-2gb each which is around raw R2J DVD size. Same goes for Dragon Ball.
@Venny I figured as much. DBZ is super action heavy so I was thinkin there'd be more bitrate during certain eps. This is gonna be the biggest torrent I've ever downloaded lmao. Pretty hype to re-watch the series using these torrents.
@mattsterZ I feel like your question wasn't, properly answered. "I am not sure what the process is and I would like someone to explain how a true remaster is done." All of the answers you can find in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moAy02J2fd8&t So now I'm going to give you a more detailed explanation. Usually when company is remastering old film they go to the most original source, which has the least amount of problems. Depending on the film size they will have more or less detail (so now I'm going to explain for each individual film print). 8-mm film print detail 480p (this film print was used commonly in consumer cameras back in the day) 16-mm film print detail 1080p (this was commonly used for low budget movies and also used for cartoons and anime basically anything that was meant for TV) 35-mm film print detail 4k (this was the standard size in all Hollywood movies and basically anything that was meant for the big screen in the cinemas) 70-mm film print detail 8k (this was meant for the big motion pictures like 2001 A Space Odyssey) film printers scan depending on their film size (if the film print is bigger it will have more detail, if the film print is smaller it will have less detail) of course you can scan an 8-mm film print in 4K but you're not going to get the same benefit as if you scan a 35-mm film print in 4K. Now that we've figured it out let's go on to the remastering process.
Step 1 the most original source possible is used and then scan in the most highest resolution (in the case of the DB Series like: OG DB, DBZ, GT they were all filmed in 16-mm film prints so there's scan in 1080p) Each frame is scan one by one, the result of this is we get a format that is from an analogue film to a digital image. Something is inherent in all film prince when you scan them and that's something called "grain" so what is "grain" the simplest way for me to explain to you is like this. Have you ever seen an old movie, if you have you'll see some weird dots jumping up and down in the background well those dots are called grain. That is detail and texture of that film. It's kind of like on old paintings you'll see brush strokes and those brush strokes are the detail and texture on that painting. So one of the key components is keeping that grain in film remastering. step 2 colour correction. often when the film is scan it will have wrong colours so a colour correction has to be applied to give you an example Raw film scan https://i.imgur.com/giVPv7T.png colour correction https://i.imgur.com/xG3U32D.png so how does colour correction work? It works like this. First the whites and blacks are balance to get rid of the greyish colors, after this a white balance is applied to balance out all three colours in the colour white. red, green, blue "RGB" this gets rid of any unnecessary tinted colours in the picture, after this a hue shift is applied to fix things like green Skies. Those are the basics on every colour correction.
step 3 removing: dust, dirt, scratch marks and tape marks. -dust, dirt, scratch marks https://i.imgur.com/eCUZJA6.png https://i.imgur.com/W1hvooT.png https://i.imgur.com/9yvsGxA.png - tape marks https://i.imgur.com/rFPMAnj.png this one is the hardest to fix (tape marks) For the dust fixers a program is used to remove all dust automatically. For dirt, scratch marks and tape marks it has to be fixed frame by frame basically information from the previous frame is taken and then filled in the gaps of frame which has mistakes. This is a very tedious process and it takes the longest. Here is a nice video which explains how to remove these problems https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-00cwSWtpz4&list=LL&index=12&t step 4 stabilization of the image when you have the raw scan the film print will move left and right and up and down. It's very distracting and a program is used to stabilise the image I hope you enjoy my explanation
@Pride9000, You have a great explanation about remastering. Dragib Ball Z 30th Anniversary Edition is a fresh release. And the die hard Dragon Ball Series fans (Including Me) wants the Level Sets continue to remaster the remaining Episode 40 to Episode 291. (In my opinion) It's hard for the company to do such things like this. Especially, they had a lot of projects needs to do. There's a multiple Dragon Ball Z Released. Maybe the company do it after a decade. They want profits not charity, they wants their efforts to be paid. If they have a die hard DBZ fan investors then they can produce the complete Dragon Ball Z Level Sets.
iKaos Hey so I've been watching your encode of dragon ball and I cant help but notice that the colors aren't as vibrant or dark as my DB Remux. Am I trippin? Or is it maybe because my Blu Ray player can render the remux better than the encode??
@ikaos Thanks for the response. I will hold out hope that the good ol' "IT'S OVER 9000!" Ocean dub will be properly synced/edit at some point in the future :)
@iKaos Also the overall image of the encode looks to have a slightly less contrast/brightness. Dont know if these changes were purposefully there or not.
@Gnosis Nothing like that was changed. I just spot checked a dozen episodes and I see nothing that you are reporting Just look at the comparison pics, they don't show what you are describing either, and EP 1's script is 100% identical to the rest.
JySzE I was watching episode 83 and that's where I thought I noticed a difference also on episode 111 havnt checked any ohters but yeah I'm probably seeing things lol
JuSzE Just seen on episode 120 timestamp at 8:56 Gokus Gi has a different tint of orange red and the blues of the sky seem different aswell. Again I dont know if this is because of the difference in file types or the actual video or something wrong on my end

@anburob I've already released a version of the Saban/Ocean hybrid sync on my previous torrents for S1 and S2 if you're curious about it. The track will be updated for the batch with some slightly different edits in some episodes so it won't be exactly the same. @Gnosis There aren't any differences in the brightness or colors between remuxes and these encodes, so it's definitely something on your end.
I [ove all your uploads Thanks
Please update the discord link.
@Pride9000 Thank you so much for your detailed answer. Sorry for the late response by the way. That is exactly what was looking for. Your explanation has cleared everything up for me. The one thing I still don't know anything about is cels and negatives. Are negatives the original film and cells are the drawings before they are filmed? If this is true, how much trouble is it for a professional team like funimation or toei to re-film cels with more detailed film like 35 mm as opposed to 16?
Great stuff! Since you'll also be working on Dragon Ball Z, do you plan to include audio in other languages? I ask mainly because I don't know exactly who is in this SoM group and I hope that this multidub project became part of it (https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1097807).
@Indote, the 1.7GB become 2.5 or 3GB? sure thing, iKaos would use FLAC Audio/s. What really matter is the major Languages: The ORIGINAL and the INTERNATIONAL. If iKaos is interested, here's the guide: ![Imgur](https://i.imgur.com/VSI1pRL.jpg)
I don't think the Vatican or North Korea have their own DB dubs

iKaos (uploader)

User
@mattsterZ It's impossible to rescan the cels, since Toei doesn't even have them all anymore. The 1st gen film master is always going to be the best you can get with any show. @Indote The multi-dub project you linked is a joke, that guy gave up because he wanted to collect every dub possible for all 291 episodes, which is impossible. His color-correction method is also flawed. The only other dub besides English that SoM is interested in is the LATAM dub, however it has not been fully released in good quality yet so it's not included in my releases. People are welcome to add any R2J-synced dub to my encodes if they choose to.

@SonGoku16736737 Our Discord is currently closed due to trolls, so you can thank the Nyaa community for that one.
@iKaos I just can't understand why anyone would not be completely supporting you guys and your releases. It is everything, that's available out there, that anyone could ever ask for. I guess it's just easier to be a dick than to be supportive. Thank you again for all the hard work and creating the definitive release of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, to come, out there.
@iKaos Thanks for reply i appreciate all your hard works especially that bloat free version but i was if looking you u have the same bloat free version of Japanese dub. Anyway's Thanks for all your works till yet.

iKaos (uploader)

@SonGoku16736737 That bloat free release was a joke, I didn't make it. It's not meant to be a serious torrent.
@SonGoku16736737 Yeah, it was a joke and I explained it here:https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1281700 so laypeople like you can understand the situation . Besides, this release is not definitive at all . It uses Dragon Radar tool and that's why I noticed an awkward insert for the English audio track that made some of the narrator words missing , like the letter " L " in the Recap of some episodes ( as in "L"ast time on Dragon Ball ) . I didn't download all of the episodes nor did I every think to do that . I know ikaos believes that the Dragon Radar was only bad for Z , not the other 2 dragon ball series es . But personally, I still have my doubts about that and I prefer to remove any Dragon Radar stuff I have ever had . Also , it's such a shame for a huge project like that to be missing the English dubtitles or Closed Captions . They're available in the old DVD singles and some streaming services . They're necessary for the people with hearing difficulties and for non-native speakers like me ( it's not that necessary for us , non-native ones , but it's better to have them just in case we misunderstood something ) . Worth to note that I also have noticed what @Gnosis saw , but didn't have time to write about them / it. The DNRed upscaled Blu-Ray Selecta Vision released is the best available release so far for this show ( We just need to add the UNCUT Funimation dub, English dubtitles and subtitles of the Japanese version to it ) . Volitank remux comes next then the old DVD singles and finally the remastered Funi DVDs . From what I read , the English subs of this fans release got some changes like Kami Sama being changed into god etc . Speaking of that , I think it could have been better if you shared a list here of these changes and corrections you did .
As for discord trolls , please stop, people ! I'm done with SOM and most of its members , you don't have to get me involved in your non-stopping drama . From now on , I will not be interacting with or responding to any member related to that , except for some very few respectable ones like Impakt and iKaos . ×- Note : I appreciate the efforts exerted here and didn't come here to be offensive , disrespectful , ungrateful or whatever like that . My intention is not ill at all ^_ ^ .

@The-good_Man1994 1. I literally checked the sync for Volitank's remux vs the Dragon-Radar sync across multiple episodes, Volitank's is very often out of sync with the video. The Dragon-Radar is not perfect, but it is still a closer sync than any other available for DB. You said you didn't even download most of the episodes, so again you're not coming from a position of good faith. 2. From a deleted part of my FAQ: > **Why no dubtitles?** The person helping me with Z's dubtitles, OnionEclipse, is still working hard on completing those for the Z batch. Due to time constraints for something so niche I was unable to devote time to syncing the dubtitles at this point. I do intend to release them in the future, however. In addition several people have offered to help sync dubtitles but usually abandon it after doing an episode or two for one reason or another. 3. From another deleted part of my FAQ (Nyaa has a word limit so some things had to go): > **Why did you change this character's name in the subs to something slightly different?** As mentioned above, I worked extensively with a group of people, some of which who are well known in the DB community, who are well-versed in Japanese and the original meanings of the Japanese names and name puns. Great care and thought was put into these changes. In addition I decided not to list out all of the subtitle changes because that's yet another thing for people to complain about. My theory is people that complain don't even watch these things and just complain about things being different.

4. [Here's a direct comparison](https://imgsli.com/MzAwMjQ) between Volitank's episode 120 remux and our encode at 8:56, the timestamp mentioned by Gnosis. The colors are exactly the same (differences in framing are due to ours being in the correct PAR). Again I ask that you please don't make things up. 5. You're not the reason we are closed, it's instead people like you who are constantly complaining on our torrents or who want to join just to leech anything that they perceive that we have. Frankly we don't really have time for it since we have bigger projects we're working on now.
Thanks for this amazing release 神 Will seed this indefinitely once done.
Does anyone know these unreleased remasters of old dragon ball that geekdom101 spoke of that he has, just curious haha.
@iKaos Not sure if you saw it, but I made patches to restore the original timing of the opening for each episode: https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1281289 (link in the comment section). The other day you said you planned to retime the openings for the batch release. I don’t know if this is the timing you prefer but, as I was doing this for my personal Dragon Box remuxes, I figured I might share it with the community as well.
Anyone know where I can find the tv version of the kai episode where Chris sabat dubs vegeta as saying "over 9000!" Also, are there any cool little changes like this in Kai other than censorship? @iKaos Are your level sets V4 going to be removing the emergency jingle/what other changes go into a release like that? Also, is there a way to address the buzzing/ringing from the Tokai broadcast audio?

iKaos (uploader)

User
@Johnster Thanks for that, I used the tool and seems like everything is good to go. Saved me the effort of having to do it from scratch. @mattsterZ There's this, but like everything on Nyaa it's dead: https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1192803 You can check out what the edits are on this site. There are a lot of little dialogue edits here and there: http://dbzkedits.3gkai.com/?page_id=241 The levels will have all the new audio released in the batch, so that includes the fixes for the beeps that Mirolo included. As far as the buzzing I'm sure it can be worked on but that's outside of the scope of this project since I'm not an audio engineer. These audios have been out for awhile and no one has done it yet so it's possible it's not easy to do without special tools or without killing the quality.
@iKaos Thank you. Helpful as always. Looking forward to the releases!
@iKaos Thank you for your effort to make this wonderful collection of Dragon Ball, and sharing it with us. Just bought 1TB hard drive for all your releases! I very like picture quality, and audio options we have, but for myself I like the original JP one somehow. The subtitle did not matching with english dub? O did I miss something? Anyway all good! As I saw this is final version of Dragon Ball saga, but I have I question about Dragon Ball Z, before I start to download. I read over the comments here that will be a new release, updated version of it soon? Should I wait for it? Thank you again! And will try to seed as long as I can!
@iKaos You’re welcome. BTW, don’t forget that for the two specials it’s better to keep Team Mirolo’s shift for the opening as well (notice the swoosh sounds at the very beginning). Also, I was thinking... IIRC you’ll be using the Special Selection DVD, right? (While I haven’t personally compared them, people say it looks a bit better than the respective Dragon Box discs, even though it cuts the bit rate in half...) Do you also intend to redo the version with fabrebatalla18’s video?

iKaos (uploader)

User
@OldTimer The subs don't match the dub because the dub itself takes many liberties with the Japanese script. DB in general does have dubtitles, as they're called, either on certain DVDs or streaming services, however they require effort to be synced to the video source. The DB dubtitles were not timed when this was released but they will be done and released separately in the future. Z *should* have them included. And yes I would wait for the new batch for Z as everything will be improved. I anticipate it should be out by the end of the year. @Johnster Originally I said I was using the Special Selection DVD, but after looking at it and comparing with the Dragon Box, it's clear that the Dragon Box is higher quality - it has nearly double the bitrate and therefore less compression artifacts. The Special Selection DVD also has a sharpening filter applied to it which creates more artifacts. So anyway I ended up syncing everything to the DBOX specials manually. New HD versions will also be released that were encoded by JySzE as well.
@iKaos Thanks for your response. Good to hear you’ll be releasing new HD versions as well!
@Ikaos What is recommended for the best viewing experience when it comes to the level sets versus dragon box footage? I know the level sets have the new title cards and and some black crush, also a couple of frames missing here and there. But clarity and image stability is amazing on the level sets. I do see the dragon box footage as more consistent since the rest of the series is available in that format.

iKaos (uploader)

User
@Justasaiyan88 It's up to you honestly, the v4 Levels will have identical audio and subs options as the DBOX, so it's really personal preference. The version of the Levels that I release is video-synced to the DBOX, so any additional frames that they may have are removed (in addition to a few frames added, along with NEPs). Personally I prefer the Levels but some people are bothered going from an HD source to an SD one so that's why I also do the DBOX.
@ikaos thanks for the response. I will probably stick with the Levels since the Saiyan saga is my all time favorite of the whole series. Can't wait for the release to have a consistent Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z release in it's most faithful form
It's been a long, long road for DB fans to get to this point. Just for fun, I popped in one of my CD-Rs my mom bought from a guy on eBay back in 2000 to check the picture quality. 15 FPS, 320x240 12MB file size ![Can't believe this disc still reads](https://i.imgur.com/7RI9MSg.png) ![Don't know how I managed to watch the whole series like this when I was 11](https://i.imgur.com/9IMIPFW.png)

@TORQUENDB I actually know someone trying to preserve these old fansub recordings who is interested in what you have. If you have Discord you can contact him directly at brap#0732 or if not just email me 85ikaos @ gmail and I'll try to get you in contact.
@iKaos I'll see what I can get off the disks. There's 24 of them (Although I seem to be missing #8 currently, may be in one of my CD boxes), covers pretty much all of DB/Z/GT and a few movies (I think some of them are weird fan dubs). A lot are scratched to hell, but I have a professional resurfacer if I need it. Lots of nostalgia in these, they were my first real exposure to the Japanese language and turned me into a lifetime sub fan. And the reason why even though Toonami got me into the show, I have far more nostalgia for the Japanese version than the US, since I had seen basically all of the shows before Funimation got the Trunks saga.
I don't really like the broadcast audio of the original Dragon Ball i don't know what happend but i have to increase/lower volume every time i switch from the broadcast to dragon box or english audio especially in the openings and endings.
Cany anybody tell me where can I get the audio files of funimation remastered dub?. I want to download the grupa mirai encodes but then they have only japanese audio with polish subtitles.

@Rockinakki https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1248631 - the BD track from here will be in my batch.
Yo I'm new to this whole preservation of dragon ball thing, and stuff like this as a whole, but from the looks of it you people are very dedicated and it shows, so thank you for the hard work @iKaos. Also, is there a way to get all 153 eps that have the "gotta find that dragon ball" opening as their intro? Also do you have a discord?
I made a custom conf file for mpv (shinchiro build and celluloid compatible, not sure about other builds) that you should just copy and paste into notepad and save it as mpv.conf in the mpv folder which is inside the mpv player folder (unless you're on celluloid [I have no clue about other builds and forks], you can just choose the file from there). This is just for video decode, I didn't add anything related to audio, subtitles, OSD or screenshots. Here's the conf: https://pastebin.com/jNF281H9 Note: this mpv.conf is set up to run on average computers, but if you read the file you can change it easily to run on slower and faster computers. I also provided some links to where I got the info If you don't like mpv, I suggest celluloid (linux only) and maybe mpc-qt (compiling required, not for noobs) for mpc lovers. Also, here's a list of mpv's gui frontends for people who don't like mpv for some reason: https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/wiki/Applications-using-mpv#gui-frontends Yes, I know I am almost half a year later but forgive me. I hope this can help someone. Thank you ikaos, JySzE, Team Mirolo, venny (just because I like his name), the guys that leaked kei17's audio, the open source community that developed such great software and google for letting me have a 1PB google drive.
@DonCanjas in the description we already inlcuded a build of MPV (dot) net that includes better scaling and a more user friendly UI. But your help is welcome and maybe someone might find this helpful. I didn't include anything for linux people because if you are on linux you should know how to do this stuff already. I especially enjoyed the comment saying > #DON'T USE ANIME4K I'LL BEAT YOU UP Your config also defaulted me to dxva2 which in mpv's doc warns you of this: >dxva2 is not safe. It appears to always use BT.601 for forced RGB conversion, but actual behavior depends on the GPU drivers. Some drivers appear to convert to limited range RGB, which gives a faded appearance. In addition to driver-specific behavior, global system settings might affect this additionally. This can give incorrect results even with completely ordinary video sources. *edited*

@Neuronis I think you're asking for the BLT dub OP, which is on that dub track for 1-13, but they stopped dubbing after that so you can't get it for the rest. Suppose you could make a custom track if you want though.
@JySzE first, I don't know how to do those quote things so just bare with me if you want to read this. I admit it, I made a mistake. It should be hwdec-auto-copy-safe which is not working, so it should be hwdec-auto-safe (at least for windows). hwdec-auto-copy will choose the first available method and adding -safe theoretically should solve the problem, but as I said before in this comment, hwdec-auto-copy-safe it's not working for me, at least on windows. I hope this was clear, sometimes I just don't know how to speak. I didn't know it had an custom conf but now after checking it, I don't like it. As an upscaler, I don't like spline36 and I find lanczos more attractive. I understand why to choose spline36, but it's not for me. I'm sure you know what anime4k would make this look like, for me it looks like photoshop's "preserve details" resampler which is awfull. Some random dude on r/mpv gave me a custom build with anime4k and some other crappy filters applied. I laughed for a while because how bad it looked compared to having shinchiro's build with no conf file. Most linux users are on Ubuntu based distros and a lot of them don't know how to do these kinds of things. I personally not use mpv when I'm on linux because celluloid is so much easier for me to use and update and I am sure it is the same for a lot of linux users. So here's an updated version of my conf: https://pastebin.com/y9YnSSRV Lastly, since the mpv-net build you provided isn't nvdec out of the box, here is my personal conf for recent (past 2013) NVIDIA ONLY (unless you modify it of course): https://pastebin.com/uWVMXagU
@DonCanjas The config you posted is using spline36 by default except for downscaling : https://pastebin.com/y9YnSSRV ![text](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/775984576983990282/797795262311038996/ghgIwfCOrnwAAAAASUVORK5CYII.png) > I didn’t know it had an custom conf but now after checking it, I don’t like it. As an upscaler, I don’t like spline36 and I find lanczos more attractive. I understand why to choose spline36, but it’s not for me. lanczos has been known to increase ringing and haloing so be conscious of that, but im glad you found something you like.
@JySzE I chose spline36 because ewa_lanczos is very demanding. I made the conf so almost everyone can run it (I could run this on a Intel Celeron N2840) and modify it if they please without having to do a lot of research. It's probably not that simple or user friendly, but I think an average user may understand how to edit it without having too much trouble. Also, Spline36 is my upscaler of choice when it comes to screens with weird resolutions such as 768p (mostly 768p) since it's redundant to download an 1080p video for it to be displayed on a 768p display (when there is an 720p alternative available). A lot of lower-end laptops have that screen and that's the conf I recommend my friends with old or lower-end pcs. I am aware that ewa_lanczossharp (I said lanczos on my previous comment but it is ewa_lanczossharp that I'm using) causes ringing and even though I don't have anti-ringing enabled, I probably won't enable it. I see the ringing, that is a fact. But in my opinion it is low and as I said I find it more pleasant. Another method would be using regular or the soft versions of ewa_lanczos. Also, here's ewa_lanczossharp's info on mpv's documentation: https://mpv.io/manual/master/#options-ewa-lanczossharp Thank you for your suggestions and advice, I am glad of my conf even though it's not that special and I'll probably end up doubling its size in this next year xD I hope this explanation made sense and that I'm not being contradictory

This is the best. I'm so glad someone is taking the time to preserve this series like it should be. What is the status on the Dragon Ball Z upload? Looking forward to that as well.

@BurningGodzilla25 There was an error found in a few episodes which has delayed the release, but Z is done and should be uploaded within the next few days.
Seeding. Massive work!!
Quick. This needs 14 comments to surpass Pendekar's Dragon Ball release's number of comments.
No version of the english dub that replaces the dubbed/synthesized instrument OP/ED with the japanese versions?
FOR MAC USERS With the help of iKaos, JySzE and some other people, I was able to create a easy to install portable package & guide for a Mac MPV player. The MPV player contains a unique configuration which means other media players just won’t do this batch justice, like my portable package will. If you are serious about watching these batches in their best possible state, you can download it here: aHR0cHM6Ly9kcml2ZS5nb29nbGUuY29tL2ZpbGUvZC8xR05hMzdPZEU3cjFyVVlSNG9nLU03RWRkNzNjendHeXQvdmlldz91c3A9c2hhcmluZw== Use a Base64 decoder (Google it) to decipher the above link.
Ok got This batch. Now I'm gonna seed it & the DBZ Merge Batch from iKaos.
Good joob, minna. You give me job for sustituting your video on my release. Episodes 26 and 41 could have been fixed with the filter DeChromaBlending. ```python function DeChromaBlending(clip a){ last=a luma = tfm(pp=0, slow=2) chroma = vinverse().Srestore(omode="PP3", cache=10) # manual sync: figure out which frame (previous, current aka p,c) of 'chroma' clip is most similar to current frame of 'luma' clip # 46*log(|x-y|+1) uses the full [0,255]-range and scales little differences better than |x-y|*2 diffp = mt_lutxy(luma,chroma.selectevery(1,-1),"x y - abs 1 + log 46 *") diffc = mt_lutxy(luma,chroma, "x y - abs 1 + log 46 *") # average difference between compared frames mp = mt_lutf(diffp,diffp,"avg",expr="x") mc = mt_lutf(diffc,diffc,"avg",expr="x") # build conditional masks based on the caculated comparisons maskp = mt_lutxy(mp,mc,"x y < 255 0 ?") # finally merge the luma of the tfm with the chroma of the srestore clip accordingly to the binary mask MergeChroma(luma,chroma).mt_merge(chroma.selectevery(1,-1),maskp,luma=true,Y=2,U=3,V=3) } ``` Regards.
@iKaos I found some very minor issues with the subtitles in a few episodes: * In episode 26, the subs are scaled to a 720x480 video instead of 708x480. It's the only episode where this happens, but may throw off the alignment by a litte bit. It should be very easy to make the edits: in the Script Info section (use a txt editor), replace the horizontal resolution 720 with 708; then for the V4+ Styles section you can just copy-paste from another episode; in the Events, there are 7 lines in total (in Aegisub, it's lines 35, 38, 98, 312, 313, 314, and 356) whose position needs to be adjusted (simply multiply the given horizontal coordinate by a factor of 708/720, round off to the nearest integer, and you get the correct value). * In episodes 58 and 59, font SF Espresso Shack is missing. * In episode 77, font SkullBearer AOE is missing. * In the NEP title cards at the end of episodes 58 and 63, and in the episode title cards of episodes 59 and 64, the spelling "Tao Pai-pai" is used, but to be consistent with the rest it should be "Tao Pai Pai". (I only noticed this because of the point mentioned above.)
@overdrive I dont understand what you are saying but ep 26 and 41 is already fixed on this release and used something completely different than your provided function. I also tried that function a while ago and did not think the results suited my wanted results.
You do not get it? Well I said good job and I have provided one of the possible solutions to fix those episodes. Neither more nor less, there are no ulterior motives if you go that way.
@overdrive Oh ok, Thanks for the compliment I was confused. Glad you like it.

Please seed thanks a lot
Hello sayajins. First of all I am very thank full for the OG DB stuff, stay strong. Was the episode 138 the only one that needed fixing and could been redownloaded again? Now I really want to know if I should download this now and if you are done with the fixes and there won't be any other versions.Same question for the Z batch.
It is being seeded, lol.
Can somone explain to me why a bit of the right side was cut in the video? https://slow.pics/c/p7uOLnjR Seems like a weird loss of detail for no reason to me, but I'm sure it was done for good reason.
It's done to remove the black bars on each side.
@nouryoku iKaos DB release encoded by JySzE is far superior than RAW DBox Remux. You can read the pdf which probably answers most of our questions dombito.github.io/mergeproject/R1R2.pdf > Prioritize the correct PAR and a 4:3 DAR, which is achieved by cropping away the overscanned part. This results in resolutions such as 708 x 480 (which is resized to 708 x 531 on most players after the PAR transformation).
TORQUENDB: A bit late, but what do you have of xvid/divx encodes of DBZ and DBGT?
Overpumped garbage! who needs fucking zillion of dubs!
@Odoakr just unmuxe them if you don't want it. Its still the best encode of Dragon Ball on nyaa...
@Odoakr So people can pick and choose any dub or audio track they want? It's not hard to wrap your head around lol. Not like the extra audio adds that much to the file size anyway
Thank you so much for this amazing work!
I just compared with hevc now and is 100% the very same quality down to 600MB per ep (could go 500MB probably). So there you go. 2.5x less. 250GB down to 100GB. You guys really need to UP-TO-DATE. And yes, the grain is all there too. The very old x264/h264 is DEAD. PERIOD.
@Gradius Didn't he specifically say they intend on doing a smaller version of this already? Just wait for that, this is the perfect release period. If you don't like it just sit back and wait for someone to cater to you or be quiet plz.
if someone here is disappointed by colors and wants to do white balance on them, you can find here a tutorial made by Enigmo using Vegas 18 Enjoy it https://www49.zippyshare.com/v/kwMqGZoY/file.html
