Seeing the writing library **Lavf58.45.100,** (I could assume, could be wrong here on so many levels,) **HandBrake** was used for the video. Who the hell checks yes for **forced subtitles.**
I know that **Lavf58.45.100,** is not only used for HB. Just an assumption. I don't use HB anymore, since there are less options that come with it such as adding filters, and use VapourSynth as of now. A hell of a lot of code comes with it though.

People running Plex servers who want the subs to activate properly for the audio track they are choosing, also evidenced by listing the episode numbers in SxxExx format.
"Forced subtitles are common on movies and only provide subtitles when the characters speak a foreign or alien language, or a sign, flag, or other text in a scene is not translated in the localization and dubbing process." -Wikipedia
So subs for Signs/Songs are supposed to be Forced, particularly when using English audio. And yes the naming scheme is for Plex/Emby/Jellyfin and Sonarr.
A better question is why some PC video players think the Forced flag means "Always play this track, even when another track is actually flagged as Default".
This encode suffers from lack of bitrate in some scenes. There is a reason CyC's release is 3x the size.
As for the comments about the Forced flag. Setting Signs-Only tracks to Force is exactly what the Forced flag is meant for.

maybe because you have set your preferred language and "Forced" flagged track has that language.
This is CRF 16 on the slow preset with a couple of tweaks. Most people are fine with anything from 18-22 CRF so if anything this is larger than it needs to be. If you really want me to I can grab frames from the Remux, CyC, and my encode for comparison but I feel like that is a waste of time.
The reason CyC's release is three times the size is because of AVC instead of HEVC. I also converted the 24-bit FLAC to 16-bit FLAC which saves around 250-300 MB per episode on top of that.

nx6 It gets worse with video players, try watching 4 different things that have subtitles listed as 3-4 different abbreviations and sometimes have English dub subs or other lang subs, so you can;t easily use 2 for 2nd sub slot. I wind up having to rip the subs with mkv clever to get them to play automatically, thankfully audio dose not have this problem nearly as bad. I kind wish they would keep a database so like named things can be auto selected from which sub file to play (that way you can select the sub you want for the 6-50ep show you are watching). In MPC-HC you can do jp jap jpn 2 to try and else/if your way to the right one but then some can have auto or forced aberrations that are half the time also used for English dub subs, so loading local sub files automatically is what I do half the time for anything with odd subs or that has dub.
really with the inconsistency of sub names having them as lose files makes things easier, but I do not use plex,ect.

sameer even lav are not labeled/abbreviated right sometimes, the stuff with dub or more audio is kinda worse since song/sign is eng and the subs for the Japanese audio are eng, but not all of them have the second sub as the full Japanese sub track so using a number dose not help either. Dubs are easier to run automatically but I rarely watch dubs.....
in those cases if at least the eng signs track has forced flag set on it, you can have jpn:eng|n jpn:eng|d in lav save you. media players which use numbers, like you noted, fail very badly in such situations sadly.
